The sudden advent of the pandemic crisis caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus put a strain on the organization and provision of social and health services. This is especially the case in isolated geographic areas with poor internet connections. The uncontrolled spread of the virus has also had important direct and indirect repercussions on the mental and physical health of elderly and frail people, due to the virus itself (direct) and, for example, to the imposed physical distancing (indirect).

The goal of SmartSatCare is to help citizens and socio-health workers to mitigate the consequences of the COVID-19 emergency in hard to reach regions..

SmartSatCare pursues a technological solution for both social and health care, based on the use of Smart TV sets, with the aim of providing remote assistance by taking advantage of satellite connectivity.

The focus of the project is also to overcome the difficulties typically associated with the use of technology, due to both lack of digital education and poor Internet connections.

Sharework project endows an industrial work environment of the necessary "intelligence" and methods for the effective adoption of Human Robot Collaboration (HRC) with no fences.

The project develops a software and hardware modular system capable of understanding the environment and human actions through knowledge and sensors, future state predictions, smart data processing, augmented reality and gesture and speech recognition technology in order to make the robot overcome human barriers and ensure a more effective cooperation.

Sharework is applied in four types of real industrial scenarios in the automotive, railway, metal and capital goods manufacturing industries. Sharework solution will be able to apply to other relevant industrial environments and different industrial assembly and production processes, improving the efficiency of manufacturing processes and guaranteeing the safety of the worker.

Sharework's main objective is to endow an industrial work environment of the necessary "intelligence" and methods for the effective adoption of Human Robot Collaboration (HRC) with no fences. Sharework will provide a system capable of understanding the environment and human actions through knowledge and sensors, future state predictions and with the ability to make a robot act accordingly while human safety is guaranteed and the human-related barriers are overcome. Sharework will develop the needed technology for facing the new production paradigm compiling the necessary developments in a set of modular hardware, software and procedures to face different HRC applications in a systematic and effective way. Sharework technology will be demonstrated in four different industrial cases: railway, automotive, mechanical machining and equipment goods sectors. The usability of the developed HRC solutions in different industrial sectors and company sizes will increase productivity, flexibility, and reduce human stress, to support the workers and to strengthen European industry.

FourByThree is a European project aimed to design, build and test pioneering robotic solutions able to collaborate safely and efficiently with human operators in industrial manufacturing companies.

FourByThree is a joint effort of 15 European partners including research centres, industrial and technological companies, and a university. They are located in Spain, Germany, Italy, Finland, Holland and the United Kingdom. The project coordinator is Spain-based research alliance IK4-TEKNIKER.

The project started on December 1st, 2014, and will last for 36 months. It has a total budget of 6.9 million euros and is partly funded by the EU within the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon 2020 (grant agreement nº 637095).
