"Gaia Blu" to explore the depths of the Tyrrhenian, Ionian and Adriatic Sea

With the departure of the oceanographic ship "Gaia Blu" from the port of Crotone, in Calabria, the "ECOREST" campaign has started. The scientific expedition is aimed at monitoring the state of health of deep marine ecosystems,  and encouraging the restoration of the most vulnerable. Until May 15th, “Gaia Blu” will explore the seabed and deep underwater habitats with innovative methodologies in three strategic areas of the Mediterranean Sea: southern Tyrrhenian, northern Ionian and southern Adriatic

Kick-off meeting FarmEVs: Extracellular Vesicles Farming

Actic: identified mechanisms controlling black carbon concentrations

A new study conducted by researchers at the Institute of Polar Sciences of the National Research Council of Italy, in collaboration with Stockholm University and ETH Zurich, has identified the mechanisms that control the Arctic transport of black carbon, an air pollutant that contributes to climate warming, while also establishing the variability of its concentrations across polar seasons. The work, published as a highlight paper in Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, lays the groundwork for a deeper understanding of the impact of this compound on regional and global climate

Climate change, the Arctic is losing its memory

The VISIONE system won the Video Browser Showdown 2024

The VISIONE system, developed by Cnr-Isti, ranked first at the 13th Video Browser Showdown (VBS2024), an international competition in interactive video retrieval. In particular, VISIONE scored as the best interactive video search system in four, out of the seven, tasks carried out in the competition by both expert and novice users, and resulted the overall winner of the competition
