Using various metallic/semiconducting\ncarbon nanotubes and alkane dithiol molecules as active parts of a molecular bridge, we perform\nself-consistent quantum transport calculations under the nonequilibrium Green's function formalism\ncoupled to a three-dimensional Poisson solver for a mutual description of chemistry and\nelectrostatics. Our results sketch a particular tracking relationship between the device's local density\nof states and the contact electrochemical potentials that can effectively condition the conduction\nprocess by altering the electronic structure of the molecular system. Such change is unassociated to\nelectronic/phononic scattering effects while its extent is highly correlated to the conducting\ncharacter of the system, giving rise to an increase of the intrinsic resistance of molecules with a\nsemiconducting character and a symmetric mass-center disposition."@en ; prodottidellaricerca:prodottoDi modulo:ID6777 , modulo:ID2165 , istituto:CDS057 ; pubblicazioni:autoreCNR unitaDiPersonaleEsterno:ID2932 , unitaDiPersonaleInterno:MATRICOLA6734 . ns12:ID292163 pubblicazioni:rivistaDi prodotto:ID36278 .
