Very often the prod\nucts used contain several active components which are effective\nfor specific illnesses. Due to the presence of several compounds\nthere is a need to perform accurate analysis to determine the\ncomposition of TCM. Defining the composition is necessary\nfor both health and safety problems, in order to understand the\nbiological/pharmacological effects of certain compounds, their\ninteractions with other drugs, discovering counterfeit products\n(very often introduced in the market especially through internet\nbusiness) etc.\nSo far, analytical methods used for the analysis of TCM\nor herbal products include several conventional separation and\nphysical techniques. Gas chromatography/GC, liquid chro\nmatography/LC, mass spectrometry/MS, nuclear magnetic\nresonance/NMR are those most applied in the field of TCM,\noffering excellent results which can be used by a large number\nof State Institution Control laboratories, industries, researchers,\netc.\nIn recent years miniaturization has been introduced in var\nious fields of separation science offering several advantages\nover conventional methodologies, e.g., reducing (i) the sol\nvent and samples volumes, (ii) analysis time; achieving high\nefficiency, high resolution and high sensitivity; offering eco\nfriendly methodologies and last but not least easier coupling\nwith mass spectrometry.\nAmong miniaturized techniques, capillary/nano-liquid chro\nmatography (CLC/nano-LC) have been successfully proposed\nand applied in the separation and analysis of a large num\nber of compounds in various field such as proteomics, drug,\nenvironmental, forensic, food, natural product analysis etc. The\npotentiality of these modern chromatographic techniques, may\nhave utility for the analysis of TCM.\nThe main advantages in using CLC/nano-LC is presented and\ndiscussed including the theoretical principles related to the tech\nnique. Some examples of practical separations of nutraceuticals,\ncompounds present in natural products, drugs, enantiomers will\nalso be considered.\nhttp://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.eujim.2014.09.015"@en ; prodottidellaricerca:prodottoDi istituto:CDS053 , modulo:ID8646 ; pubblicazioni:autoreCNR unitaDiPersonaleInterno:MATRICOLA6038 . @prefix parolechiave: . prodotto:ID306679 parolechiave:insiemeDiParoleChiave . ns11:ID133355 pubblicazioni:rivistaDi prodotto:ID306679 . parolechiave:insiemeDiParoleChiaveDi prodotto:ID306679 .
