To assess whether the two\nkey-enzymes involved in the synthesis of catecholamines are present in human\ntestis we examined the expression of Tirosine Hydroxylase (TH) and\nDopamine-beta-Hydroxylase (DBH) antigens by immunoperoxidase and\nimmunofluorescence techniques. Sections from testicular biopsies of adult and\ninfant patients were processed by two antibodies. In all specimens Leydig cells\nstain positively. Differences in the staining positivity among single Leydig\ncells and among cell groups as well as among Leydig cells from different\npatients were noted. In some of the reactions a small number of Leydig cells was\nnegative. Most of the immunoreactivity is evenly distributed within the\ncytoplasm of the Leydig cells. We suggest that the heterogeneous expression\namong Leydig cells could be correlated to their different metabolic activity.\nOur observations show a local intratesticular source of catecholamines which, in\nconcert with nervous and blood-stream sources, could be involved in the\nspermatogenesis regulation. In particular, during psychogenic or somatic stress\nsituations also the local catecholamine production by autocrine and/or paracrine\nmechanism could contribute to the high concentration of catecholamines and to\nsuppression of the testicular functions." ; prodottidellaricerca:prodottoDi istituto:CDS081 , modulo:ID2652 ; pubblicazioni:autoreCNR unitaDiPersonaleInterno:MATRICOLA9703 . @prefix parolechiave: . prodotto:ID172187 parolechiave:insiemeDiParoleChiave . parolechiave:insiemeDiParoleChiaveDi prodotto:ID172187 .
