It deals with the simulation of the argon behaviour in plasma discharges performed at JET (Joint European Torus), the large tokamak device operating under EFDA. Argon was injected into the plasma to radiatively dissipate a great fraction of the power at the edge, thus reducing the plasma-wall interaction This subject is of great interest in the perspective of the prediction of the impurity behaviour in ITER (the great tokamak under construction in international collaboration), where the impurity concentration tolerable in the plasma center is very low. A detailed analysis shows that in presence of centrally deposited Ion Cyclotron Resonance Heating Ar transport is modified, in the sense of a reduction of the inward pinch convection. Sawtooth crashes also hamper the accumulation of Ar in the core, though their contribution is less relevant compared to the effect of the ICRH. The analysis is carried out by means of a 1D impurity transport code, which has been applied to several Ar-seeded discharges. The result about the role of sawtooth crashes is independent on triangularity.
