The sensing coil consists of an integrated square superconducting coil involving a device area much smaller with respect to the standard SQUID magnetometers with a comparable magnetic field sensitivity; so it allows to increase the spatial resolution keeping unaltered the magnetic field sensitivity. Furthermore, a small pick-up coil minimizes its antenna gain reducing the radio frequency interference. In order to improve the coupling properties between the SQUID and the input circuitry a SQUID with a large inductance (250 pH) has been used resulting in a rather large parameter beta=3.5. Such a design allows to obtain an high flux gain and a suitable flux-to-field conversion efficiency.\nAt T=4.2 K, the sensors have shown an intrinsic white magnetic field noise spectral density as low as 5.8 fT/Hz1/2, measured in flux locked loop configuration. Due to their compactness and good characteristic parameters such sensors are suitable for large multichannel systems used in biomagnetic imaging guarateeing an high sensitivity together with a large sensor density. It is worth noting that, due to both the low magnetic flux noise and the high flux gain (G=0.085), this sensor is able to effectively detect deep current dipole sources, despite the reduced size of the detection coil. \n"^^xsd:string ; prodottidellaricerca:prodottoDi istituto:CDS024 , modulo:ID1971 ; pubblicazioni:autoreCNR unitaDiPersonaleInterno:MATRICOLA7715 , unitaDiPersonaleInterno:MATRICOLA18380 . @prefix parolechiave: . prodotto:ID151159 parolechiave:insiemeDiParoleChiave . parolechiave:insiemeDiParoleChiaveDi prodotto:ID151159 .
