Iannace"^^xsd:string ; pubblicazioni:descrizioneSinteticaDelProdotto "This issue contains a selection of peer-reviewed articles that were presented during the first edition of the BIOFOAMS conference in Capri (Italy) on 26-28 September 2007. \n\nI have been discussing with my dear colleague and friend Prof. Chul B. Park about the necessity of an international forum for presenting fundamental aspects of current developments and future directions for research and applications in foaming technologies involving biomaterials. The goal was to provide a broader context of scientific exchange along with the themes of material properties, processes, equipments and foaming agents, modeling, structure and properties of BIOFOAMS and discuss about new developments in the field of nanoscience related to biofoams.\n\nThe topics covered mainly the areas of biodegradable foams based on natural and synthetic thermoplastic polymers, foams in medicine as scaffold for tissue engineering applications, foams in food technologies, novel biofoams based on nanocomposites and nanoporous structures, and included several papers on basic principles and modelling in foams.\n\nThe conference structure, the diversity of the attendees and the careful selection of participants from industrial and academic organizations all around the world contributed significantly to achieve the objective of identifying problems and to promote scientific discussion and further collaborative research projects. \n\nWe are grateful to all the authors for submitting their work to this special issue as well as to the members of the scientific committee for their valuable contribution to the conference \n\nSalvatore Iannace\nChair of Biofoams 2007\n"^^xsd:string ; pubblicazioni:titolo "Special Issue on Biofoams 2007"^^xsd:string ; pubblicazioni:tipoDiCuratela "Numero unico"^^xsd:string ; prodottidellaricerca:prodottoDi modulo:ID5956 , istituto:CDS051 ; pubblicazioni:autoreCNR unitaDiPersonaleInterno:MATRICOLA834 .
