After two-weeks run-in, participants were randomly assigned for 3 weeks to two isoenergetic diets, one rich in whole-grain cereals and the other in refined cereals (cereal fibre 23.1 vs. 9.8 g/die) similar for macronutrient composition. After the two treatments plasma glucose, insulin, lipids and c-reactive protein (CRP) were measured at fasting and every hour for 4 h after a standard test meal rich in whole-grain or refined cereals. \nAfter the two diets there was no difference in fasting plasma levels of glucose, insulin, FFA, CRP and Homa index of insulin resistance nor in postprandial plasma glucose, insulin, triglyceride or FFA responses. No difference in breath H2 was observed after the diets.
