Incorporation of these materials into the soil may represent a possible solution to the problem of their disposal. Soil amendments with crop residues or agro-industrial waste materials have been shown to have a suppressive action on phytoparasitic nematodes. Fresh or dry olive pomace amendments showed to suppress root-knot nematode population in different experimental trials. Wheat straw (WS), alone or in combination with soil solarization, has also been found to suppress various phytoparasitic nematode species. The addition of nitrogen sources to fresh olive pomace may increase the nematicidal effect, enabling it to be used at lower dosages and thus reducing phytotoxicity. Moreover, incorporation of olive mill wastes (OMW) into the soil could result in an improvement of chemical soil properties, i.e. porosity, aggregates stability, water exchange. A glasshouse pot experiment was undertaken to ascertain the effects of the combination of different composted agricultural wastes amendments, including olive pomace, wheat straw, lettuce residues and sawdust, with a organic or inorganic nitrogen source, on the the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita on tomato and on the chemical properties of the soil."^^xsd:string ; pubblicazioni:affiliazioni "-Sasanelli N., D'Addabbo T., Istituto per la Protezione delle Piante, CNR, Bari\n-Ferri D., Convertini G., Experimental Agronomic Institute, C.R.A., Via C.
