The present study was aimed at the taxonomic \nidentification of these Lolium populations on the basis of the \nelectrophoretic analysis of seed reserve proteins. Electrophoresis \nconfirmed the great range of variation detected by preliminary \nmorphological analysis. Approximately half the individuals in each \npopulation could be classified as belonging to Lolium multiflorum or \nLolium rigidum, the most common Lolium species present in the area. \nHowever, electrophoretic patterns revealed a significant number (40-60%) \nof hybrid individuals in all populations. The origin of these off-types \nwas postulated as resulting from both intrageneric hybridization among \ndifferent Lolium species and intergeneric hybridization between Lolium and \nFestuca genera. No significant differences were detected in the taxonomy \nof herbicide-susceptible and-resistant populations." ; prodottidellaricerca:prodottoDi istituto:CDS010 ; pubblicazioni:autoreCNR unitaDiPersonaleInterno:MATRICOLA11674 . ns10:ID599341 pubblicazioni:rivistaDi prodotto:ID10579 .
